I notice that lots of law firms are raising cash for charity by carrying out some form of strenuous and/or hazardous activity usually involving running, walking or swimming great distances or climbing or falling from great heights. Sponsored marathons 5k, 10K, 3 peaks challenges, abseiling down tall buildings and that sort of thing.
At Percy Hughes and Roberts we do things differently. We eat cake. If you want a sponsored afternoon tea marathon then we are who you need.
Twice recently we have raised significant sums for charity (Macmillan Nurses and Children in Need) by baking and scoffing large amounts of cake. We have discovered we possess not only some very talented bakers but also a lot of very greedy eaters; a marriage made in heaven perhaps.
The choice of cakes on the Children in Need day was overwhelming, Chocolate,Victoria sponge ,apple and ginger, homemade cookies and many more. Most of us decided that to take only one cake would have been rude and ungrateful to those who had slaved so hard to bake them. It was only polite to buy at least two if not more slices, and at PH&R we are nothing if not polite.
Perhaps we should consider sponsored diets in 2012; but will it be so popular?
