In today’s society you can go out and murder a person, you can start a riot, you can become the local drug dealer selling drugs in your community, you can trip in the street or get injured at work and all these incidents have one thing in common, the legislators have determined that you can choose who you wish to give you advice, which in a large number of cases is paid for by someone else.

However, should you be the unfortunate employee of an unscrupulous employer then you could find that you don’t have the money to pay your mortgage, pay for your gas, electricity, foods bills yet you will be denied the access to legal services that the others would all enjoy. You will be restricted to the CAB or other charitable services that provide legal advice, which is not to say they do not provide a very worthwhile service they just don’t have the experience that you would hope for when finding yourself in this unfortunate situation.

It seems strange that from a child you are taught to do right, not to break the law, when you get older get a job and contribute to society.  Yet when you do all these things and then you most need the help and support to protect your interests, your home and your family then the laws created by Parliament who are elected by society deserts you.

It is long overdue for employees who are subjected to unfair, degrading treatment to be protected at Employment Tribunals and those employers should be paying the consequences for their actions and not the unfortunate employee who is left to foot the bill when attempting to uphold their legal rights.
