There is a wide range of different conditions imposed by the Intestacy Rules, which are important to take into consideration if you have not planned a will.
For example, if somebody dies without having a will in place, the Intestacy Rules state that only married persons or civil partners and other close family members can inherit from an estate.
Additionally, should the deceased be survived by a spouse/civil partner and children, and have an estate worth up to 250,000, the whole of the estate will go to the surviving spouse/ partner. However, if the Estate is worth more than 250,000.00 the surviving spouse's partner shares what's over and above 250,000.00 with the deceased's children.
