What is Harassment at Work?

Harassment and bullying are generally considered the same thing, but there are a couple of differences between the two terms.

The former is defined as being unwanted behaviour that affects the dignity of workers of both genders and can be related to anything from age and sex to religion and race.

Bullying is generally aimed at humiliating or undermining the victim through offensive or insulting conduct.

Examples of this kind of behaviour include:

  • Victimisation
  • Spreading rumours
  • Insulting workers
  • Misuse of power
  • Unwelcome sexual advances
