Advice on Undertaking Grievance Procedures

If you have a problem at work that you would like to raise with your employer, but cannot resolve it informally, you may need to go through a grievance.

All employers must have formal procedures in place if one of their workers wishes to raise a grievance. These processes should have been given to you in writing.

The following should be carried out in order to formalise your grievance:

  • A letter should be written to the employer outlining the issues
  • This will then lead to a meeting in which you will get to air your views
  • If you feel that the decision the employer makes based on the grievance is not satisfactory, you will have the opportunity to appeal

Our solicitors will advise you on the best way to handle each of these steps.
